When the client was in the early stages of planning this beautiful barn conversion set in the South Norfolk countryside, he consulted Aluminium Clad Windows by TWN to discuss his plans and the glazing options for the conversion.
The impressive detached U-shaped barn conversion with 6/7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms has been sympathetically extended and renovated to an exceptional standard, whilst retaining much of the original barn character. The property features original vaulted ceilings, exposed oak beams and brickwork with high quality design and finish throughout.
The barn really needed to capitalise on the spectacular uninterrupted rural views, whilst creating a warm, energy efficient environment. Working with the Client and Architect, Rob and his team proposed Westcoast Windows double-glazed Classic Series for the original barn and triple-glazed Design Series for the two wings and kitchen extension.
The master bedrooms enjoys triple aspect countryside views with aluminium timber composite French doors opening out to the rear terrace.
The kitchen/family room extension really has the ‘wow’ factor, with a fully glazed aspect using a combination of Westcoast Windows popular SD Series sliding doors opening onto the patio courtyard, fixed glazing and top swing reversible windows to benefit from the natural light and expansive views.
The delightful living space with double-sided wood burning stove also benefits from full height composite windows, allowing for more natural light to brighten the seating areas.
The client selected clear lacquer to finish the warm wood interior of the windows sympathetic to the natural wood of the beams, and a black RAL 9005 coating for the low maintenance aluminium exterior to complement the traditional wooden barn cladding.
